Logos Study - Sundays 9:45-10:30 am. This is a study for all ages based on the FBS Discipleship Toolkit Curriculum offered with a heavy emphasis on straight Bible study. Led by Rev. Misti McCreary in L36.

Sunday LifeLight Bible Study - 4:30-5:30 pm in L34 led by Dr. Randy Frye. Begins Sept 12th to finish our study. The Minor Prophets, and on Oct 10th we being a new 8-week study. The Life of David. This course will explore the story of King David from the time when Samuel chose Jesse’s youngest son to be the next King of Israel to the final days of his life. Who we are- The UMW has been in mission to women, children and youth across the world for more than 174 years. The entire program and organization of United Methodist Women focuses on mission.  Here at First Broad Street we have approximately 155 members who support a budget of $14,765.  Besides our portion which goes to our district, conference and national budgets, we contribute to Holston Home for Children, Camp Bays Mountain, and Child Center Teacher Scholarships.  We provide a lunch for our staff, sponsor breakfast for our high school seniors, and give a “gift to mission” in their honor and for college graduates.  UMW also provides a meal once a month for the Terrific Tuesdays program at Community UMC and encourages reading through the purchase of books for the reading program.   We contribute to Jackson Elementary School through the collection of “Boxtops for Education," and hats, scarves and gloves at Christmas.    Each month one of our 5 circles provides a dessert item for Safe House, Oasis and Hope Haven for Women, and we distribute the magazines collected to Holston Valley Hospital.   We have two special offerings in addition to our annual budget each year – Prayer & Self Denial in March and World Thank in November.  These offerings go to national for support of some of the many worldwide programs of United Methodist Women.

 

We encourage all women to become a member of one of our circles or just become a member at large to be part of this long-standing example of being a disciple of Jesus.

Circle 1- of the Month, Room 143; Noon on First Monday

Circle 2- Tuesday of the Month, Parlor; 2pm on First

Circle 3- Thursday of the Month, Parlor; 4:30pm on 2nd

Circle 4- Wednesday of the Month, Room 143; 9:30am on Second

 

We have 5 general meetings and meals (March, May, September, November, December) where we all can come together for a program and fellowship each year. We would love to start some new circles if our existing times are not convenient and will provide childcare as requested. NEWSLETTER

Nursery… is available for all general meetings and circle meetings.  Reservations are required at least one week prior to the meeting by calling Beulah Napier (378-3566) and giving the number of children and their ages.

 

United Methodist Men - The First Broad Street United Methodist Men meet the fourth Monday of each month for dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by a program at 7:15 p.m.  All meetings are open to spouses and other guests.  For detailed information, check the monthly church newsletter.
