The FBSUMC Orchestra

The group is open to high school and adult musicians and plays monthly in the traditional worship services,

This year, we are particularly in need of tuba, French horn, and string players.  Call Gay Aycock at 378-3312 for more information.

The Connection Band/Singers are composed of musicians who come together once a week to:  a) learn about leading worship through the art of music and b) rehearse the songs for the upcoming contemporary worship services.  Instrumentalists include bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard, drums, percussion, violin, and flute. For more information contact  Jenny Rogers at 224-1523.

Youth Jam is for Middle School and High School beginning and intermediate instrumentalists who have a desire to meet together once and week and make music.  Call Jenny Rogers at 224-1523 for more info.

Drum Circle is a group of people who gather  to play hand drums and/or percussion instruments in a circle. They do not meet to perform for anyone (although there may be bystanders who stop to listen) but rather to communicate with each other through one simple beat that connects to another beat that connects to more complex beats and rhythm patterns which altogether create energy and excitement in everyone there!  It is facilitated by members of FBSUMC.  Its mission is twofold: a) to support the Downtown area with family/friendly activities and b) to meet the spiritual needs of the unchurched.

There are 6 Handbell Choirs (3 adult, 1 youth, 2 children) which add joyful ringing to our Sunday morning worship services.  The Matin Ringers and Vesper Bells attend an area or regional Handbell Festival in the spring.  All six handbell choirs are featured at a Christmas Ring and Spring Ring each year. Call Bob Garver at 224-1505 for more information.

The Youth Choir rehearses during the school year (Aug. – May) and sings at the 8:30 a.m. traditional service each first Sunday.  It has a yearly choir retreat and a mission/choir tour in the summer usually in June.  In recent years it has been to Alaska, Toronto, and Mexico
