Kingsport Community Ministry Center - is a multi-church ministry that addresses the emergency financial needs of individuals and families within our community.  Under the direction of a paid director, volunteers assist in this ministry by participating as a receptionist, interviewers, and counselors.  Training sessions are provided to people wishing to assist with this ministry.  KCMC is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to Noon.

“Faith Promise Offering” is an opportunity for you to provide financial gifts through second mile giving that is above your annual commitment to the operating budget of the church. This gift is based on faith in what you feel God may additionally bless you with in the year to come and is only given as provided; thus pledged on faith. The “Faith Promise Offering” allows the congregation to become involved in many exciting ministries that range from support of outreach programs to financing mission trips around the world. It also allows us to be responsive to emerging opportunities throughout the year as well as disaster response to both man made and natural disasters. The congregation makes their pledge to “Faith Promise” during the annual Mission Celebration in early spring. 

UMCOR Sager Brown 
is the collection depot in Baldwin, Louisiana where the United Methodist Church collects kits assembled to meet specific needs in areas around the world and dispenses them during times of disaster and human desperation. Local congregations from across the United Methodist Church accumulate kits for flood relief, health and hygiene, education, hunger, and the general necessities of life in response to the work and ministries of the United Methodist Committee on Relief. This opportunity is made available to the congregation at FBSUMC several times a year upon UMCOR request. 

Communion Offering 
is provided by the congregation the first Sunday of the month during our service of Holy Communion. Baskets are placed at the front of the sanctuary to allow the congregation to make gifts to this offering which provides financial assistance to members of our community who come to our door with needs. This offering also allows FBSUMC to participate in the Kingsport Community Ministry Center, a faith based multi-church ministry assisting people in financial distress.

The Food Assistance Ministry allows our congregation to respond to the emergency need of food for people within our community. Food Items are listed weekly in the SPIRES for the congregation to bring in the following week to stock the food pantry at FBSUMC. This ministry is operated by volunteers and ffered on each Monday and Friday morning to the community.

Furniture Assistance Ministry - is a ministry that receives donations of good used furniture from the congregation and members of our community and provides it to people in our community who have furniture needs that they unable to meet. Many come to the doors of FBSUMC needing the basics of home furnishings, and are blessed by the gifts you provide.

Firewood Ministry is an exciting opportunity to provide firewood for heating purposes to the low income and elderly through the collection of donated hardwoods and the distribution of this wood in our community. Firewood is donated by members of our congregation and community who have had tree removal and wish to make the good portions of the trees available for this ministry.

Clothes Closet is a community supported ministry housed at 1 st Presbyterian Church that provides donated clothing to people in our community. Congregational members may donate clothing by taking it to 1 st Presbyterian Church or placing it in the bin provided in the hallway by the chapel at FBSUMC.

 Strictly for Hunger  is a unique opportunity for us to become involved in the ministries of the church that assist with food needs in our community. Each Sunday, members of the congregation donate homegrown produce and baked goods to assist in Food Assistance Ministries. The Strictly for Hunger Table usually runs for about ten weeks each summer and is available to the congregation through the Sunday morning services each week during that time.

Friendship Diner – is a ministry offered to the community each Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. Breakfast is served to all who come in need of food, warmth, and fellowship by volunteers who share their time and their hearts. Tasks include cooking, setting tables, serving, and washing dishes. Opportunities include a better understanding of those who live around us, experiencing and sharing God’s grace, and the warmth of fellowship. The diner is open from 6:30 – 8:00 AM on Saturday, and 5:45 – 7:45 AM on Sunday. Volunteers may sign up for specific tasks or may simply show up for breakfast and fellowship.
