 Be Nice!

“…always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.” I Thes 5:15

The city truck came and accidentally left crushed glass all over a portion of our grass. Try as I might with the shop vac, I could not get it up and was really puzzled about what to do. In fact, I was aggravated and a little irritated. Wesley helpfully reminded me, “Be nice!” as I picked up the phone to call the city. His comment helped me to add gentleness to my voice as I explained the predicament. The gentleman on the other end was nice in return and promised to send out the city’s truck vac to scoop up the mess. As I hung up, I turned to my husband and saw him grinning widely.

That episode was another reminder of the importance of being nice, of being kind to one another, both in the church family and in our dealings with the world in general.

Am I being nice to the check-out person? Am I being pleasant to the person at the bank? Am I working on not being a complainer at the restaurant? Am I being nice to the members of my family that I have conflicts with?

It’s too easy sometimes to leave our “church manners” behind as we exit this building, but let us challenge one another to continue in our good deeds 24/7.
